The washing machine does not work. No error code is displayed, or error code E23 is displayed instead of error code EF3 (Water Protection System). The washing machine interrupts the current program and starts the safety drain cycle. Water is drained, and the machine stops with the door locked. If the temperature in the drum is too high, water is drained to 2/3 full to reduce the temperature before the door can be opened.
Due to a software error, error code EF3 (in the service test program) and the corresponding error code EF0 (on the display) are not shown. Instead, error code E23 is displayed in the service test program. The underlying issue that EF3/EF0 would indicate is a water leak or leakage, related to the water protection system.
1. Start the service test program (refer to the corresponding service manual). 2. Skip the first steps in the service test program and set the program selector to 'error code display'. 3. Check if error code E23 is stored (check all 3 error codes). 4. If error code E23 is present, check the machine for water leaks/leakages. 5. If no water leak/leakage is found, continue troubleshooting normally as if looking for error code E23 (according to the procedure in the service manual).
